New year’s New line-up of Cars under Rs.20 lakh!

For car manufacturers, this New Year opens another 365 days to showcase their upcoming new cars and also surprise the customers with new models of the last generation.

Carwale shared some of the anticipated launches of 2022, within the pricetag of Rs.20 lakh. Let’s start with the revival of a legend, the Mahindra Scorpio.

New Scorpio

Since 2002, Scorpio has been one of the best performing models from Mahindra, and it has a huge fan following. The 2022 version of Scorpio is possibly one of the highly anticipated 4 wheelers of this year. According to carwale, the model is expected to get a major revamp in every department, be it exterior design, interior, features, or powertrains. It is believed that the current-gen Scorpio is likely to live in harmony with the all-new model.

New Baleno facelift

Compared with the previous editions launched since 2015, the new Baleno Facelift could be the first model to come from Maruti Suzuki.

Carwale reported that the mid-life update of the model has already been caught undisguised during a TVC shoot, hinting that the launch of the updated premium hatchback could be right around the corner.

New Brezza

Maruti Suzuki, itself has huge plans for 2022. The second product that Maruti could bring to the market later this year is likely to be the heavily updated Brezza.

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza led the compact SUV segment in terms of sale in Feb 2021, and it remains one of the popular mini SUVs in recent times.

Previously leaked images have revealed that the SUV could drop the Vitara moniker from its name. The model will also receive feature updates in the form of a sunroof, paddle shifters, and more, said Carwale.

New S-Cross

Suzuki unveiled the 2022 S-Cross for the European markets in November 2021, and the model is likely to arrive in India towards the end of the year.

Compared to the current-gen model sold here in India, the new S-Cross gets many updates such as driver-assistance technology, a new 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology, and a heavily revised exterior design.

New Carens

South Korean auto major Kia’s products Sonet and Seltos have received good reception in India, and the manufacturer is looking at growing sales in India by nearly a third in 2022. Including exports, it is targeting at least 25-30% growth in this year.

The fourth product from Kia will be a mid-size MPV known as the Carens. The model was officially unveiled last year, with bookings set to open later this month, followed by a launch in the first quarter of 2022.

New Creta facelift

The Hyundai Creta has been the bestseller for the brand in India ever since its launch here a few years ago.

The company is expected to bring the facelift version later in the year. The updated model was globally unveiled in November 2021, and we expect it to arrive at Indian shores towards the second half of 2022.

New Venue facelift

Another important launch for Hyundai India this year could be the Venue facelift. The sub-four metre SUV is expected to receive changes in the form of a redesigned exterior and feature updates to the interior, carwale reported.

New Slavia

The brand-new sedan is the Czech carmaker’s second India-specific model. The Slavia’s manufacturing process has a localization level of up to 95%.

As the sedan is based on the MQB-A0-IN platform – it offers a comprehensive range of safety features and advanced infotainment systems. Just like other ŠKODAs, this model is characterized by an emotive design. Its name is both a tribute to the carmaker’s beginnings and a symbol of a new era in the Indian market.

New Virtus

The Volkswagen Virtus will be the second model under the brand’s MQB A0 IN platform after the Taigun.

Virtus will be based on the same MQB-A0-IN. This is a new platform that has been specially developed for India. It is a heavily localized version of the MQB-A0 platform that Volkswagen and its subsidiaries use for their vehicles.
