Family teaches the principles  of management better! – expresses Saravana Kumar, Founder, Kovai.Co

At the inaugural of the brand new office of Kovai.Co, its founder and CEO Saravana Kumar expressed that he once wanted everybody who does business to teach entrepreneurship to their kids.

Coming from a humble background to now running a $ 10 million ‘Software as a Service Company’ headquartered in London, Saravana Kumar’s journey has seen many ups and downs.

His company is known for being one of the best bootstrap companies in Tamil Nadu. It started with a small investment and went on to become a multi-million dollar company, serving a large number of international and domestic clients, and be recognized as a “Bootstrap Champ” by Economic Times at its Startup Awards this year.

He said that what he learned from his father at a young age by working at his shop, they have become a value-addition in running his business, especially managing funds in a better way today.  “The scale is different but the principles are the same,” he said, and expressed that families teach management better.

He was in Coimbatore to inaugurate the new 40,000 sq.ft office located at Hanudev Infopark near Hindusthan Hospital. He shared that this office has come out in the way he exactly visualized.

“We look at this whole thing (this new step) more as a starting point. We don’t see it as an end, we see ourselves start here. The last 10 years taught us a lot of things. We struggled a lot, learned a lot. We were coming from a technical background, and we didn’t know anything about business. Now we know how to build a product and sell it globally. Now to 2030 is what we are looking, that is the bigger picture, and this office is a part of the bigger vision,” he said post the inauguration.

Saravana Kumar had earlier said in an interview that Kovai.Co aspires to become a 30 million USD company in the next 3 years, and at the inaugural, he expressed that he wishes that this company becomes Coimbatore’s first unicorn company.

Arjun Prakash, Chairman of CII was the Special Guest of the occasion. He appreciated Saravana for choosing to land in Coimbatore and develop business here. He said the visibility of Coimbatore will continue to increase with the works done by business organizations like Kovai.co

Neeraj Mittal IAS,Principal Secretary for IT for Government of Tamil Nadu addressed virtually, and appreciated the recent ascension of Kovai.co. He said the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M.K.Stalin has set a 1 trillion USD State economy, and Software and IT exports will have to be a part of this story, and aid in engineering this economic growth.
