Siruthuli creates SPB Vanam with 74 trees

In order to pay tribute to the legendary singer S. P. Balasubrahmanyam and to cherish the memory of one of India’s greatest leaders Dr.A.P.J Abdul Kalam, Siruthuli initiated the creation of a small forest and named it SPB Vanam at Siruthuli’s office at Ukkadam on Thursday.

Speaking to The Covai Mail, Chandrasekar, Afforestation Officer of Siruthuli said  “to commemorate the 74 year life-journey of S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, we planned to sow 74 saplings here. We chose Coimbatore based musicians and made them plant these saplings.”

“We chose tree-saplings that could be used to make musical instruments. 18 varieties of such saplings have been taken and planted. This initiative was inaugurated virtually by the late singer’s son S.P.Charan and his sister S.P.Shylaja. Both of them gave their best wishes for this endeavor and appreciated it.”

“The reception from the nature-lovers, fans of SPB, Dr.Kalam, the public and the cine and song industry have been incredible. Actor Sivakumar, Singer Bombay Jayashree, Mano and many others have congratulated us on this initiative”, he added.  The event was also attended by Siruthuli’s Apex Members and Trustees.
