Siruthuli’s 3000 trees plantation plan reaches Phase-III

City based NGO- Siruthuli, which is working non-stop to achieve that ‘Clean Kovai, Green Kovai’ vision, recently inaugurated the third stage of its 3000 trees planting  initiative at the Coimbatore Central Jail campus. This activity is a follow-up of the previous two phases of plantations that were done at the Central Jail campus.

This plantation follows Miyawaki method and the initiative is supported by Baker Hughes – an American international industrial service company and one of the world’s largest oil field services companies. The results of previous phases of activities have transformed planted areas into thick green carpets with birds and fresh air all around the area, the third phase commenced on Saturday.

Siruthuli said in an official statement that the plantation is done as per the Miyawaki method with native trees endemic to the western Ghats that will soon become a micro forest in the heart of the city and become home to many birds and smaller reptiles generating the much needed oxygen for the citizens of Coimbatore.

Shanmugasundaran, DIG, Prisons, Krishnaraj, SP, Prisons, Senior Management Leaders Manish Plant Manager, Muruganatham, Project Director and Suresh, Sourcing Head along with a good number of employees from Baker Huges participated in the plantation. Managing Trustee of Siruthuli and its members also were in attendance and took part in the plantation, while following all the Covid Safety protocols.
