Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis hosted the 3rd Edition of Nation Builder Awards on 05.09.2019. It served as the club’s tribute to the teachers-fraternity everywhere. The event was held in the CRI-Alumni Auditorium of Corporation Higher Secondary School, Siddhapudhur.

Nation Builder Award which was instituted 3 years ago has recognized the best teachers in the city and honored them with a cash prize of Rs. 5,000 and a shield. This year, the prize has been increased to Rs.7,500 to encourage the teachers to further serve & strengthen the student community.

Rtn.Kamalesh Raheja, Past District Governor, R1 District 3201 was the Chief Guest of the event, K.K.Chugh, Project Chairman; Dr.Latha Balasubramaniam, Director, Youth Service Projects, C.J.Narayanan , Secretary, Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis took part in the program.

Rtn.MD.Vittel, President of the club, while welcoming the gathering said teachers are the architects and guides of students. When a student follows the words of teachers, it is evident that they will reap success in life.  He also appreciated their host – CRI-Alumni Auditorium of Corporation Higher Secondary School, Siddhapudhur- which is the only Corporation Higher Secondary School to provide morning breakfast to its students.  “For Rotary Club of Metropolis, it is a privilege and an honor to honor the best teaching faculty of Coimbatore”, Vittel said.

Five faculties from different schools, predominantly from Government School – Hariharan, Corp.High School, R.S.Puram; P.Muthulakshmi, Corp.High School, Siddhapudhur; G.K.Vijayalakshmi, H.M. ,Govt High School, Gandhimanagar; P.Sakthivel, Corp.High School, Masakalipalayam; Hajah Sheriff, Principal, CMS Matric High School – were honored.

Accepting the award, G.K.Vijayalakshmi, H.M. ,Govt High School, Gandhimanagar; P.Sakthivel, Corp.High School, Masakalipalayam; Hajah Sheriff, Principal, CMS Matric High School rendered the acceptance speech. G.K.Vijayalakshmi said “Government Schools are now equipped well to compete with Matric Schools in results and accomplishments in Extra-curricular activities” She expressed gratitude to Rotary Metropolis for providing library facility and Water purifying R.O.System.

P.Sakthivel thanked Rotary Metropolis for providing Books worth Rs.10,000 to his school’s library. He said “Recognition like this will make the teachers serve even better. What the students of today have were never seen in our times. I urge all the students to make best use of the resources to rise high”

Hajah Sheriff addressing the students, said ” In our lives you are a big part. At the bottom f the heart, you all are sweet but don’t be ignorant. Make use of your teacher’s wisdom”

The Chief Guest in his address said “Every year, Rotary encourages all the clubs to focus on literacy related activities. It offers scholarships and supports besides revolutionary projects like ‘Hope After Fire’. We are all on a better position because of our teachers. One who respects his teachers, triumphs and on this occasion I pay tribute to all the teachers”. Following the formal event, the students each received gifts from the club.
