TSC awareness on Skill Development

Recently, Textile Sector Skill Council conducted a sensitization program for the Handloom& Powerloom industries, small and medium size textile mills with a primary focus on Skill development schemes. The event was conducted under the leadership of  T.Rajkumar, Chairman, TSC through SIMA.

For resolving the problems faced by Handloom Weavers and their socio-economic development, TSC has been actively working to recognize and certify the skill of weavers across India. Tamilnadu alone constitutes 20% of 82,000 recognized and certified under the “Recognition of Prior Learning” (RPL) scheme. Under this program handloom weavers were educated on digital learning, mobile banking, importance of e-commerce and awareness on health and hygiene in the working area.

School drop outs as well as those who come from financially weak backgrounds upon undertaking this program will receive additional benefits like recognition & status in society, personal accidental insurance and loans under various schemes like Mudra and free access to DigiBunai CAD software.

TSC has also been helping textile mills of Tamil Nadu to meet the high demand for skilled manpower through job melas. Under this, the number of youths targeted will be about 1.5- 2.0 lacs. More than 5000 candidates have already been selected by industries through job melas. TSC has also conducted job melas in states likes Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Assam.
