NABARD sanctions Rs.12.24 Crores for Incubation centre at TNAU

Recently, the Tamilnadu Agricultural University saw the opening of the Modernised Exhibition Hall. The exhibition saw display of various products like herbal drinks, products made out of coconut shell, solar dryer and many more. The National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board of the Department of Science and Technology, GOI, New Delhi has “Establishment of Technology Business Incubator” at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University at an outlay of Rs.242.13 Lakhs for a period of 5 years.

The event was inaugurated by R.Amalopavanadhan, Deputy Managing Director, NABARD, Mumbai, Padma Raghunathan, Chief General Manager, NABARD, Chennai and N.Kumar, Vice Chancellor, TNAU, Coimbatore during the inauguration of Exhibition Hall at TNAU.

The TBI was established and registered under Registrar of Societies, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu in the name “Agribusiness Incubation Society” which extends its support to start-up firms like incubating start-up companies in a business ecosystem to deliver the required handholding services to a level of maturity, stability and success, Licensing of TNAU technologies, Establish Innovation clusters/ Farmer Producer Companies in selected areas of agricultural economy, Promote student entrepreneurship by incubating potential business and likewise.

Based on the performance of the Technology Business Incubator, TNAU, Coimbatore, NABARD has sanctioned Rs.12.24 Crores for establishment of Incubation centre  in Agricultural College and Research Institute, TNAU, Madurai and Entrepreneurship  Development and Innovation Institute, Chennai has sanctioned Rs.2.5 Crores (each) for establishment of Incubation centres at four research institutes of TNAU.
