Exemplary level of Patriotism exhibited during Indian Navy Day Celebrations 2018

We all know how our precious, exquisite, exotic treasures and artifacts were looted by the British and other invaders. To protect their shipments sent from India to their homeland and to safeguard their inner business cargos, the British formed East India Company’s Marine in 1612. It acted as a naval defense force for the British.  The blood that was shed by countless patriots and innocents made our India, Independent.  After becoming Republic, the naval force was renamed as Indian Navy.

India is a land surrounded by water on all three sides. It has greater threats in these marine regions as well. Luckily we have more than 65,000 personnel defending us 365/24 , surviving the elements and suppressing the enemies so that we could breathe the air of freedom and harmony.

Every year December 4 is celebrated as Navy Day in India to commemorate the bravery of our Navy force exhibited during the Indo-Pak War in 1971. Indian Navy carried out OPERATION TRIDENT and attacked Karachi’s harbor. India dominated Pakistani forces and sank 4 of their warships.  Today India’s Naval Force stands 7th in the world.

Recently, the heroes of our naval armed forces celebrated the Indian Navy Day in Gateway of India, where the heroes demonstrated various naval combat maneuvers and strategies to the public. Apart from displaying their skills, the men have done several acts that deserve our ovation.

Keeping in mind about the celebrations well in advance, a Mega Blood Donation Camp was organized by the Eastern Fleet at Naval Dockyard Visakhapatnam on 05 October 2018. Around 268 personnel from the Indian Navy donated their blood to NTR Trust Blood Bank. The donated blood would be given to those in serious need, especially for Dengue patients and road traffic accident victims. Besides this, during the past month (November), an organ donation seminar, Special Children Visit, 2 additional Blood Donation Camp, Medical Camps, Vizag-Navy Marathon, Tour inside Naval Ships to School Children, etc were done in advance by our Navy.

The Indian Navy didn’t wait for their big day to come; they didn’t wish to celebrate it with cakes and drinks. They celebrated it with the people they guard in the hottest days and coldest nights. They shared their blood and time literally to benefit the society and did their service silently.

We saw the sugary side of our Navy being so sweet to their nation. Now let us see their fiery side too. The Indian Navy personnel exhibited their patriotism with panache during 4th December 2018.  The Indian Navy Choppers flew over Dhanushkodi Beach in Rameswaram where it halted in the air at approximately 100 feet for few minutes. Navy personnel climbed down through ropes and showcased their acrobatic talents as a part of their Indian Navy Day Celebrations.

In Gateway of India, Mumbai, the marine commandos paraded their rescue and defense operation skills which were full of gallantry. They exhibited how they would move in stealth mode by using smoke as their camouflage and take down terrorists. Also their ways of rescuing hostages were also shown.

A demonstration of Beating Retreat Ceremony; sounding of drums to signal the retreat of soldier from combat and Tattoo Ceremony; proceeding towards individual camp also took place. The navy choppers flew around the Gateway.

The size of them was sure enough to unnerve the foes of our nation. The strategies of our marine commandos were showcased, A navy March Past and drums band that ignited the nerves and lot more happened during this year’s Navy Day.  The President and Prime Minister of India took immense pride in our Navy and conveyed their greeting via Twitter.
