Bharathiar University announced on Monday that it will be offering a PG Diploma course in Geriatric Care and Management from the academic year 2021- 22.
The varsity’s Social Work Department is collaborating with Travancore Foundation Education and Research Centre on Aging (TF ERCA), Kottayam, Kerala to offer this program here.
An MoU was signed by Prof. K. Murugavel, Registrar i/c, Bharathiar University and Dr. Renu Abraham Varughese, Founder Director & Chairperson of Travancore Foundation in the presence of Prof. P. Kaliraj, VC of the varsity.
The diploma course focuses on interdisciplinary geriatric care management with fieldwork practicum and prepares graduates to meet the challenges of eldercare and opens opportunities to choose a career path in the field of geriatrics.
Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline can apply for this one year course which consists of two semesters. Faculties from the Social Work Department and TF ERCA along with field experts from reputed institutes will guide and deliver the program components.
