Karnataka Association to host Purandara Daasa Krithi Music Competition

Purandara Daasa the 14th century Saint of Karnataka is known as The Father of Carnatic Music. It is he who systematized the early learning methodology of Carnatic music and also set the format for an ideal Carnatic music concert.  It is said that he had composed over 4,75,000 krithis in praise of the Lord, and these are called Devaranamas.

The Karnataka Association, Coimbatore had been organizing the Annual music competition in Saint Purandara Daasar krithis for the last 12 years to perpetuate his memory.

The competition is open to all in the age 8 to 25 years, in three groups. For the 13th year of the competition, due to the current pandemic restrictions, the preliminaries will be virtual and all participants should upload their presentation before 10th November in the link provided in the website of the association kacbe.in.

Panel of judges, who are specialists in Daasar Krithis in Mangalore, Bangalore, Udupi, etc will independently evaluate, and select the finalist. The final round by all probability will be physical at the Association hall at Tatabad, Coimbatore on Sunday the 3rd January 2021, before a limited invitees and a panel of judges. Top three winners in 3 age groups will be presented purses of around Rs 50000.
