Renowned Academician Prof Saikumar, Dean (Academics) Retd, the Institute of Public Enterprise, Hyderabad, discussed “Holistic and Multidisciplinary Education” in the webinar held on 13th December, 2023. Organized by the Association of Indian Management Schools(AIMS), the event highlighted India’s historical roots in such education, drawing from Gurukul practices.
Prof Saikumar emphasized the shift from information-centric to wisdom-driven learning, focusing on Yog (inner strength), Ekagrata (concentration), Swadhyay (thought), and Pravachan (teaching methodology) as crucial elements. Addressing low enrolment rates in Higher Education Institutes, he advocated for credit-based courses, community projects, and value-based education.
The session, moderated by Raja Reddy, Dean (Startup, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Cell), Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering and Technology, Chittoor, stressed the significance of internships and multidisciplinary learning for a transformative educational experience.
