On September 9, 2023, the NSS cell of Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women in Coimbatore celebrated International Literacy Day in Kalappanaickenpalayam village. The program was inaugurated by Rangaraj, the Panchayat President of Kalappanaickenpalayam village, and Newton Manimala, Branch Manager of the Life Insurance Corporation of India.
With the participation of 90 NSS volunteers, the event aimed to promote literacy and education. More than 120 villagers benefited from the program, which included a rally on “Promoting Literacy for a World in Transition,” an “Each One Teach One” initiative, and the distribution of 100 tree saplings to the community.
