Dhoni dropped! Who is Responsible?

MSD joined the Indian team in 2004 against Bangladesh where he was run-out for a duck. But little did the world know that this humble lad from Jharkhand will one day help India lift their maiden T20 World Cup and only their Second World Cup in the 50 over format. A calm guy on the cricket field, he has always preferred to be a shadow for his team rather than coming in front when the team wins.

It’s no surprise he pulled a rabbit out of the hat when even cricket experts predicted that India would lose the game. If one were to look at his batting style, it would have brought many 100’s but the man choose to play for his team which has often been reflected with the charts showing more 50’s than 100’s even after 500 plus international games. With the white beards clearly visible and wane batting of late, has the time come for Captain Cool to hang up his boots.

With India losing the World T20 in 2015, many blamed the former captain for his inability to quick runs. The recent games against West Indies also show that MSD is no longer the blitzkrieg batsman he was once known for, though the man continues to be impressive with his glove work and sharp cricketing brain which made fans nickname DRS as Dhoni Review System. Who is to be blamed for his unimpressive show with the bat???

The selectors have rested the former captain for the T20 games against Australia and West Indies which has left some fuming and others surprised. Well, Dhoni has always come down the order because of the fact that India was completely dependent on him to finish games but the current scenario suggests, he needs some time in the middle before going after the bowlers.

One must also keep in mind that V.Kohli is still in the nascent stages when it comes to taking decision in crunch games and with Dhoni by his side, it will certainly be a boost for everyone considering the fact that its  young side who will represent the country in the 2019 World Cup. If Captain Cool is kept away from the cricket field at this crucial point, it will be a big mistake by the Indian selection Committee.
