Rotary Coimbatore Central Launches ‘Thulir Vanam’

Coimbatore witnessed a transformative step in urban forestation as Rotary Coimbatore Central partnered with Siruthuli and Rotary Central Vanam and launched the ‘Thulir Vanam’ project on 5th August 2023. Over 5000 trees will flourish near Perur using the innovative “Miyawaki” planting technique. Rtn. T.R. Vijaykumar, District Governor, RI District 3201 graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Vanitha Mohan, Managing Trustee, Siruthuli delivered the keynote address and Rtn. S.V. Balasubramaniam, Past President, Rotary Central & Chairman, Siruthuli delivered the special address. Rtn. Ashwin Kumar, President, Rtn. Maojkumar, Chair, Service Projects and Rtn. Subhu Palaniappan were also present in the event. Rtn. Chandrasekhar, AG Rtn. Trishala Kumari & Panchayat President delivered the felicitation address.

This initiative echoes Rotary Coimbatore Central’s commitment to environmental preservation through their ‘VANAM’ projects. Notable past projects include the revival of Kolarampathi tank and the Miyawaki greening of Coimbatore Railway station. Collaborating with local bodies and Siruthuli, this venture exemplifies micro Urban Forest creation in constrained urban spaces. ‘Thulir Vanam’ embodies sustainability and collective action for a greener future.
