Competing in the 60kg category, the two-time Asian Junior Champion emerged triumphant against Vaishnavi Waghmare of Maharashtra with a scoreline of 4:1.
In a captivating bout, Nikita started cautiously in the first round but impressively shifted gears as the fight progressed, demonstrating her technical prowess. Her strategic approach ultimately led her to a well-deserved win, setting a positive tone for her campaign in the championship.
Nikita’s next challenge awaits in the form of Anamika Yadav from Uttar Pradesh, as the competition intensifies in the subsequent round.
The opening day of the championship witnessed exceptional performances from other emerging boxing talents as well. Bhawna Sharma from Haryana (48kg), Shalini Gupta from Uttar Pradesh (52kg), Nidhi from Chandigarh (52kg), Riya Toor from Punjab (60kg), and Supriya Rawat from Delhi (66kg) all secured comprehensive victories with a flawless scoreline of 5:0, highlighting their dominance in their respective weight categories.
Khushi Jadhav of Maharashtra displayed remarkable technical superiority in the 50kg category, overpowering Megha Behra from Odisha and securing a victory by RSC (Referee Stopping the Contest) in Round 1, showcasing her prowess in the ring.
In Tuesday’s matches, Anshu from Haryana (50kg) is set to face off against Archana U N from Karnataka, promising an exciting clash between two formidable opponents.
The upcoming bouts in the 54kg category will see Babita Singh from Uttar Pradesh competing against Manaswini Sabat from Odisha, while Neha from Chandigarh will take on Charu Yadav from Rajasthan, adding anticipation and intensity to the championship.
In the heavyweight division, Kirti from Haryana (+81kg) will go head-to-head against Manisha Giri from Punjab, promising a thrilling encounter between the two powerhouses.
