Expert discusses Operations Management in Supply Chain

DJAME’s Corporate Connect

D.J. Academy for Managerial Excellence (DJAME) organized an event as a part of Corporate Connect which is an industry institution interaction initiative, in which Premkumar Manavazhi, Leadership Thought Consultant, Former Regional Lean Advisor – India & Southeast Asia, Caterpillar Inc., conducted a Case Workshop on ‘Operations Management in Supply Chain’ recently.

Premkumar Manavazhi initiated the session with a question “Why does a Business Exist”? He spoke about how companies need to create value for the customers. He also gave an insight on how supply chain performance can be a key differentiator to increase the customer satisfaction.

He explained the connecting dots that cause the highest level of dissatisfaction in the supply chain process. He insisted the importance of the role played by the supply chain/operations managers in strategic decision making and their part in customer service activities.

He used small real time cases to emphasise all the points he covered. He concluded the session by saying “improving supply chain efficiency would shorten the delivery and processing times thereby resulting in customer satisfaction”.

The session was followed by a Q&A session. Students and Faculty members of DJAME took part in this interaction initiative.
