Open Kitchens at KFC!

KFC organized ‘Open Kitchens’ press meet today (30.4.2018). It is open for all consumers visiting any KFC restaurant, to get a first-hand experience of what goes on Behind-the-Kitchen across the city of Coimbatore.

KFC’s Restaurant General Manager GV Raghu shared some interesting and insightful facts like KFC uses 100% real whole muscle chicken and none of their chicken is processed.  Their chicken is 100% desi too – it’s Grade-A chicken sourced from the most reputed Indian suppliers like Venky’s, Godrej and Shanthi.

As one enters the KFC kitchen, one needs to put on hairnets, wash hands and sanitize meticulously – a process followed by all team members every 30 minutes inside the kitchen. Upon entering the bustling kitchen, one can see marinated chicken being breaded and fried to golden crispiness.

“Our chicken is made the hard way – it is freshly cooked several times in a day. There are no shortcuts, each piece of chicken is hand-breaded and goes through about 34 quality checks before making it to your table. No freezer to fryer for KFC – real chicken made by real cooks in our kitchens”, Raghu explained.

It is amazing to know that every day, all the KFC chicken is hand-made by their cooks, in each one of their restaurants to make sure that the food is finger lickin’ and fresh. The chef checks the temperature, texture and colour of the sample item from each batch to ensure it is properly and completely cooked. “There is strict monitoring to ensure that the chicken that goes beyond it’s holding time is discarded immediately to ensure that consumers are served only the freshest batch.“, Raghu added.

As the alarm goes off in the kitchen, the entire staff moves towards the washing area one by one. “KFC follows strict rules for hygiene. The team members are required to scrub, wash and sanitize their hands every 30 minutes, each time this alarm goes off as a reminder.” Raghu said. “Also, all utensils are sanitized 7 times a day and only RO water is used for cooking food”, he added.

Next time you are at a KFC, don’t hesitate to ask for an Open Kitchen visit and find for yourself what makes it so finger licking’ good.
