Nehru Group of Institution (NGI) in association with Kovai Pedallers and Rotary Club of Kovaipudur organized a cycle rally on Saturday at Kovaipudur.
It was named Tour De Siruvani, as it was a 50 kms rally from Kovaipudur to Siruvani to create awareness on 100% Corona vaccination and Environmental protection and also to encourage cycling and bring out its benefits.
P.Krishna Kumar, President of Kovai Pedallers and CEO & Secretary of NGI and said “Cycle was one thing that was in use in our day-to-day life until a few years back. People in villages and towns were using it as a major mode of transportation. Apart from its zero cost, it is a great exercise and people of all ages can get benefited by it.”
“After the invasion of automobiles like bikes and cars, cycles lost its grace and power even in villages. Now the attention on cycles has revived in the younger generation.”
More than 100 men and children showed interest in the rally. It started around 6.30 am from Kovaipudur A Ground and enrooted through Sundakkamuthur, Perur, Pachapalayam, Thondamuthur, Alaandhurai, Nallurvayal, Ikkarai Pozhuvampatti and reached Siruvani. The return journey also took the same route and reached Kovaipudur.
Colonel C. Chandrasekhar, Regiment of Artillery NCC, Coimbatore and Rotary Dist. 3201 Governor Rtn. Rajasekaran, inaugurated the rally in the morning.
