KCTADC 2017 – a tribute to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam

As a tribute to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, the Department of Aeronautical Engineering & Kumaraguru Centre for Industrial Research and Innovation (KC.IRI) jointly organize third edition of Aircraft Design contest “KCT Aircraft Design Contest 2017 (KCTADC 2017)” at KCT.

Dr APJ Kalam had “Vision 2020 for developed nation” and to take his dream to the younger generation, this event is organized at KCT for the third consecutive year. The students from various colleges from all over the state had participated the event.

Prof. C Vasantharaj, Director KC.IRI welcomed the gathering and Dr R S Kumar, Principal, KCT felicitated the chief Guest and congratulated the participants. Chief Guests T. Sampathkumar, College mate of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam,  Prasada Rao, AGM (Design), RWRDC, HAL, Bangalore & Thirugnana Sambandam Scientist – G, ADA, Bangalore inaugurated the event by paying tribute to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.

Chief Guest T. Sampathkumar shared his memories with Dr Kalam to all the students and the audience gathered for the event and suggested to conduct more exhibitions where he can help in making various models. Chief Guest Thirugnana Sambandam was explaining Dr.Kalam’s dedication towards his work and sharing about Dr.Kalam’s power of words, remembering and related to people. Chief Guest Mr Prasada Rao described about the helicopter aerodynamics and helicopter maneuverability limitations to the crowd.

Participants from various institutions presented and explained about their own aircraft specification they designed and the top three teams were awarded. Dr.K.Sundararaj, HOD, Dept. of Aeronautical Engineering thanked the chief guests, all the faculties & students for their presence and in making this event a grand success.
