Guv revisits Agri Univ., observes technology used in Mango planting

Governor of Tamil Nadu and Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University Banwarilal Purohit inaugurated the new planting technique of Ultra High Density Planting of Mango (UHDP) on October, 2019 at a closer spacing of 4 X 2 m accommodating 500 plants per acre as against the normal system of planting which accommodates only 65 plants/acre.

As a follow up action to know more about this technology Honorable Governor revisited the TNAU College orchard and went around the demonstration plot of UHDP on mango and discussed with Dr.N.Kumar, Vice Chancellor, TNAU about various aspects of establishing this new techniques.

He witnessed the drip – fertigation system supplying water and fertilizer to the mango plants established in the demonstration plot of the orchard and understood about the fertilizer application time, composition of nutrient requirement for mango and quantity to be applied through drip irrigation system. He is very much interested to popularize this technique in his native district of Vidharbha, Maharashtra with active technical support of TNAU scientists.
