“Nurses should have the attitude, spirit & knowledge to excel”

PSG College of Nursing conducted its 26th Lamp Lighting Ceremony on 10.1.2020  at PSG IMSR Auditorium. This ceremony provided an opportunity to remember, reintegrate and commemorate the service rendered by  Florence Nightingale towards the patients. Prof.Seethalakshmi, Nurse Entrepreneur, KaSee Women’s Health Centre was the Chief Guest.

During this ceremony, Dr.M.D.Anuradha, Nursing Superintendent, PSG Hospitals delivered the pledge to nursing students and 95 first year B.Sc Nursing students took the Nurse pledge before starting their clinical experience in the hospital. At this ceremony, the students promised to take the responsibility of  saving lives of patients and assured to never be partial to any patient based on their religion.

In her address, the Chief Guest said that nurses and doctors are the two poles in the healthcare system. She advised that Nurses should have attitude, spirit and knowledge to excel in their profession. Nurses spend most of their time for interacting with patients than any other healthcare professional, registered the Chief Guest.

Earlier, Dr.A.Jaya Sudha, Principal of the college welcomed the gathering. It was conveyed by the college that the year 2020 is significant for WHO in the context of nursing and midwifery strengthening for Universal Health Coverage. Therefore the Executive Board designates 2020 as the Year of the Nurse and Midwife.
