Cute Furs & Purrs at Cat Show create Joy

Over 20 breeds of different cats numbering over 50 at present have been brought to the “biggest cat show in Coimbatore” which is currently going on at Hindusthan College of Arts and Science. The varieties of Cats one could find in the show includes foreign breeds like Persian Long Hair, Cheamese, British Short Hair etc,. which are exhibited in this show by pet owners from different states of South India.

The show also feature domestic breeds (for which the organizers – Coimbatore Cattery Club have given free entry to compete in the show) The cats will be sorted into different categories based on age, hair (long-hair, short hair, breed, maintained quality of the cats etc.,  The best will be judged by judges from Coimbatore and of International reputation, and will be honored with shield & winner’s ribbon.

Talking to The Covai Mail, the organizers said that the show’s main focus is to create awareness about raising cats in the right way. A member of Coimbatore Cattery Club said that many people leave the kittens born in their home to become strays which is disheartening. He said Cats are fantastic stress-busters and the domestic breeds have good immunity power.  “ This show is for the cats and they are the stars of this show”, he added.

When asked whether there are any difficulties in raising a cat, Ms.Vennila, a participating cat owner from Thondamuthur said that she has been raising a Persian Long Hair since 2014 and it was just 4 months old. She said that she sees it as her daughter, and there is nothing to label as difficulty but sheer love in raising it. There are many breeds and many colors of cuteness that is abounding in this cat show and the entry fee is just Rs.50 for the public.  It goes till Sunday (22.11.2019)
