3000 saplings planted during Nature-Fest in Sulur

Several social-welfare groups, students, villagers of Sulur and associations such as Lions Club and Rotary Club of Coimbatore Centennial planted 3000 saplings in the shores of Chinnakulam in Sulur on 25.8.2019

This activity has been carried out to make the land around Sulur a green and serene atmosphere that could benefit not just the society but all life-forms. The planting of saplings were held as a Nature-Fest and it was inaugurated by Minister Velumani and K.Rajamani, District Collector, Coimbatore. Dr.Nalla G. Palaniswami, Chairman, KMCH and P.R.Natarajan, MP, Coimbatore took part in the event.

With the support of several associations, in 2016, two thousand saplings were planted in 2 acres of land in Sulur area. Now they have all become firm rooted trees that have turned as a sanctuary for birds and an oasis of shade for people. The trees have enhanced the environment of the region and led to the dawn of Sulur Forest area. On 25.8.2019, in 3 acres of land in Sulur region, 3000 saplings were planted and with the aim of rising Sulur Forest 2.0.

During the event, Minister Velumani in his address said that Sulur has become a role model for all other regions by conducting this Nature-Fest and planting 3000 saplings.  K.Rajamani in his address said that all should be focused on protecting the water bodies and planting trees. He assured that the district administration will provide all the support to those who are interested in enriching the environment.
