The Department of Visual Communication of VLB Janakiammal College of Arts and Science, conducted State Level Photography Expo titled Reflecta ’19 as a part of World Photography Day on 19.8.19. The occasion also saw the department inaugurate its association Vizhi Vazhi Agam.
N.Suryakumar, Chairman, VLB JCAS, the Chief Guests Rathika Ramasamy, Wildlife Photographer, Arun Bharathi, Lyricist-Movie Industry, Padmavathy Arun Bharathi,Script Writer –Vijay TV and Dr. M.Shunmugasundaram, Principal, VLB JCAS inaugurated the association and the expo.
500 students all over Tamil Nadu had sent their exhibits out of which 350 photos based on the themes- Colors, Monochrome, Street Life, Portrait, Wild Life Photography, and Reportage were displayed for the public. Nearly 3000 visitors visited the expo.
As a part of the expo, vintage Cameras were also displayed which attracted the visitors. They were eager to know the origin of camera and appreciated the effort put forth in exhibiting them. The Chief Guests appreciated the creativity of the students and awarded Memento and Certificates for the winners who were chosen based on the themes.
Rathika Ramasamy stated the demand for Marriage Portfolio and asked the students to develop and create portfolios which would help them to develop their career. Arun Bharathi, insisted “opportunity will not come to their doors, but students have to look for it”.
Padmavathy Arun Bharathi, Script writer cited examples about the nuances in writing and bringing that to life through cinematography. She further mentioned the pros and cons in media and advised the students to explore and unleash their potential.
