Rotary Texcity installs new office bearers

Rotary Club of Coimbatore Texcity organized the Installation Ceremony of new office bearers for the Rotary Year 2019-20.

Senthil Kumar, President of the Club welcomed the gathering. He thanked the fellow Texcitians for making the year 2018-19 a rewarding one. He highlighted the club received Platinum Citation under the guidance of Rotary 3201’s Dist.Governor A.V.Pathy. He said the contribution of the club through programs such as Ryla,Jambore, Nakshatram, Prabhanjam, Dhanya Dhaan (through which 1800 inmates in 20 +homes were fed) has been significant.

He called for his fellow Texcitians to rejoice in their contribution to community. Ending his address, he said “Today I close the door to the past, open the door to future, take a deep breath, step on through and start a new chapter in my life”.

Post his speech, a welcome dance was performed by the Anns of the club. Following that, the laudable annual activities, philanthropic projects were presented as an AV by the secretary of the club …..

Rtn.Maruti, Dist.Chairman, Public Image introduced the incoming President Rtn.MD.Kamal Kumar.

With the handing over of the Presidential Medal and Pin to Kamal Kumar, the latter became the President of the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Texcity.

The new office bearers were installed.

In his Acceptance Speech, Rtn. Kamal Kumar offered his thanks to his mother and family. After congratulating the immediate past President Senthil, he said “we live in a world that is both exciting and perilous. Life is full of challenges today as poverty, conflicts, negative impact of social media on youth, fake news, misogynism, harassment of LGBT people, climate change and much more.

To Rotarians, every problem is an opportunity. But the way we serve people needs a change. Living in charity is not a pleasant feeling. We shall have to drive the club towards truth and transparency, and strive to give without offending the dignity of the receiver.”

He then announced the upcoming projects from Rotary Club of Coimbatore Texcity. A tie up with Eye Foundation, Coimbatore to provide free cataract surgeries, building 4 classrooms in Narasi Puram school, a global grant to extend medical services and even a twinning program with Rotary Club of Portland Maine to provide 3D Printed Prosthetics which is probably the first in the nation.

Talking about the projects, the president said “even if these projects couldn’t be completed in my time, I would like to set the trajectory so that the Future presidents can carry them on.”

Following this an MoU was exchanged between the president and Dr.Ramamurthy of Eye Foundation for providing free eye health services.

The Installation of the new office bearers ensued and it was followed by the launch of the Texcity Times.

The Chief Guest Rtn.Girish, Rotary Club of Bangalore in his address said “Think Big, all we need is in this room (referring to the empowered Texcitians). We just need to to take a day or maybe a week off to plan inorder to serve the society well.”

With the felicitations, the event came to an end with the Vote of Thanks by Secretary Vairavan.
