The 2020 Olympics that will be held in Tokyo next year is sure to be a historic event in the world history. Not just because it will be grand and great but it will be a game changer in a specific area. The 5000 medals which will be given to the winners of the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics will be made out of e-waste materials obtained from smartphones, laptops and other electronic goods.
All gadgets will have a minute amount of gold,silver and copper but the amount is so small that we dispose them. The committee at Olympics has made the medals out of 47,000+ tonnes of e-waste which has collectively given 8 tonnes of gold, silver and bronze. The initiative began in the year 2017 and for almost 2 years, this initiative was going on full swing.
When the winners of the 2020 Olympics receive these medals, they can feel duly honored to own these medals.
