The Department of Costume Design & Fashion at Sri Jayendra Saraswathy Maha Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science (SJSMVCAS) organized Saffron’19, An Exhibition on Technical Textiles. The Exhibition was inaugurated by Dhanalakshmi Jayachandran, Secretary and Priya Arun, Je. Secretary,Sri Jayendra Saraswathy Educational Institutions. The event was presided over by R.Premalatha, Principal.
On display were Technical Textiles such as Geo Tech, Agro Tech, Build Tech, Home Tech, Medical Tech made out of fibers such as Sisal, Jute, PET&Bamboo along with recent trends in medical & home textiles. Students exhibited and explained handloom settings & wave structures. Ikkat sarees made out of bamboo & tencel yarns were showcased. Arrangements were also made for demonstration of tie & dye, batie and stencil printing, starch application and stain removal. The students also displayed Traditional embroidery of different states which were neatly done.
