NGPASC organized a National Conference on Sociocultural Dynamics of AI and Literature

The English Department of Dr.N.G.P. Arts and Science College organized a National Conference on “Sociocultural Dynamics in the Intersection of AI and Literature” recently.

The programme began formally by invoking the blessings of the Almighty with a prayer song. The conference commenced with an enlightening inaugural address by the esteemed chief guest, Dr. Priya, a senior-grade assistant professor from Amrita School of Arts, Humanities, and Commerce, Kochi.

She delved into the intricate relationship between Artificial Intelligence and humans across various life domains. She emphasized the sociocultural impact of the convergence of AI and Literature and particularly highlighted the challenges in the advent of AI.

Dr. Priya, also drew attention to the unique aspect of human authors deriving their literary pieces from lived experiences, contrasting it with AI’s reliance on extensive language data, which inherently comes with limitations. The conference witnessed active participation from students, scholars, and professors hailing from various institutions.

During the technical session, attendees presented their research findings, delving into the intersection of AI and human experiences. Most of the participants challenged the prevailing notion that & AI is going to steal our jobs and critically evaluated the authenticity of the perceived threat posed by AI to human beings and creators.

The valedictory session was shared by Dr.  Chandrakumar, Assistant Professor, Pachayappa’s College for Men, Chennai. He addressed the nuances in the intersection of AI and Literature. The conference was closed with vote of thanks.
