NGPASC conducted an awareness workshop on the APYS

Department of Commerce CSCA , of Dr. N.G.P Arts and Science College (NGPASC) conducted an awareness workshop on the Atal Pension Yojana(APY) Scheme among Unorganized Sector workers” on Thursday at seminar hall.

The workshop was  sponsored by Indian Council of Social Science and Research (ICSSR), the program commenced with a solemn prayer song followed by the ceremonial lighting of the traditional lamp.

Prof. Dr. Renuga Devi, Project Director, NGPASC  welcomed the gathering for this auspicious occasion. The felicitation address was given by Dr.  Ramamurthi, Principal, NGPASC.

Karuppasamy, Senior Manager, Indian Bank-Kalapatti Branch, delivered a speech on fundamental aspects and also detailed features of the Atal Pension Yojana Scheme in inaugural session. He also underlined the recent updates about the scheme and also the updations in scheme website and the availability of mobile app for APY which became an eye opener to those who were not aware about the scheme and highlighted the recent updates about the scheme.

The keynote address was given by  Balaji, Assistant Superintendent of Post Office, Coimbatore North Sub Division, scrutinized the benefits of the Atal Pension Yojana Scheme,illustrated its operational framework and contribution towards its mechanisms and emphasized that the APY scheme will be a great source of income during old age and significance in providing financial security to Unorganized Sector Workers which motivates the audience to invest their money in savings for their post-retirement period.

Renuga Devi, Project Director, NGPASC diligently facilitated the dissemination of the Atal Pension Yojana Scheme. Her efforts underscore a commitment to empowering marginalized communities with access to Pension benefits, ensuring their financial security in later years. She disseminated the effectiveness, relevance, efficiency of the scheme and a positive impact in creating a valuable awareness among the middle-aged individuals and aiding them in understanding its significance.

She also highlighted that there is an increase in enrolment of the scheme among graduates and suggested to promote the scheme among students that motivates for savings in young minds.

Chandrasekaran, Associate Professor, Department of Commerce with Finance, NGPASC focused on eligibility criteria and demonstrated the procedural aspects of the Atal Pension Yojana Scheme by guiding the participants through the registration process and necessary documentations.  He also light spotted the investment opportunities facilitated by the scheme.

The workshop had active participation, around 60 individuals including the members of self-help groups, Asha workers and Post Office employees. Over 20 attendees have enrolled in the APYon the same day with the help of banks and post office employees. It shows the program create an immediate awareness among the public.

Kowsalya, Head of the Department of Commerce with CSCA, expressed a heartfelt gratitude to the guest speakers for their insightful words and demonstrations on creating awareness over Atal Pension Yojana Scheme.

The program concluded with the national anthem, fostering a sense of unity and patriotism among the attendees.
