-Dr. J.Balakumaran, Interventional Cardiologist, KMCH

Heart Diseases are the leading cause of death in the world. In the present times, Heart attacks have become a lot common among the younger section of population in a country. People below 30 and 40 years of age are getting heart attacks.

By modifying our lifestyle (controlling our body weight, quitting smoking and alcohol, taking steps to lower blood sugar levels, managing hyper-tension, engaging in physical exercise, at least 5 times a week etc), we can safeguard our heart.

We should try to prevent heart-disease, at least postpone it. Between 6 months to 1 year, it is better for those above 40 years to go for a master-health checkup. If there is any abnormalities, the doctors will recommend CT Scans, Angiogram and will convey about further treatments.
