TNAU tries to convert barren land into cultivable one

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University identified a half acre barren land at its Centre for Plant Breeding and Genetics recently and announced that it is taking measures to turn the land into a cultivable one by planting Teak and Melia Dubia.

This initiative was held as an event on Wednesday. Dr. N. Kumar, Vice Chancellor, TNAU, inaugurated the function and initiated the planting of the two saplings. It was followed by the university officers and other scientists. Totally 174 seedlings were planted in an area of 0.5 acre, thereby the underutilized area is brought under cultivation.

The Registrar of TNAU Dr. A.S. Krishnamoorthy, Dr. S. Geetha, Director, CPBG and other University officers, Head of the Departments and Scientists from CPBG attended the function along with 30 scientists adhering to social distancing and health safety norms given by the government.
