GKNMH inaugurates Covai’s 1st ever 4-bedded Bone Marrow Transplant Unit

Launches a New Ward for MICU

G.Kuppusamy Naidu Memorial Hospital has opened a new 40-bed ward for Medical Intensive Care Unit(MICU) and first in Coimbatore 4 Bedded Bone Marrow Transplant Unit (BMTU) on 30.10.2019.

It was inaugurated by S.Pathy, President, G.Kuppuswamy Naidu Charitable Trust for Education and Medical Relief in the presence of Gopinath, Vice President of the Trust and Dr.Ragupathy Velusamy, CEO of GKNMH and the trustees. The MICU comes with two levels – Level 1 comes with 15 Beds, 3 Isolation Units while Level 2 has 15 Beds and 7 Long Term Stay Units. It will be overseen by Dr.G.Satyamurthy,  Director, Medical Intensive Care Unit, GKNMH.

The features of the MICU include:

*40 Bedded Unit with 2 merging cubicles.

*7 Long Stay Rooms, for patients who need to be at this facility for a longer time.

*Single patient- Individual Cubicle, which lowers the level of cross infection.

*3 Dedicated Negative Pressure Isolation Rooms.

Beside Invasive Monitoring with Central Monitoring Facility & Hemodialysis Support Facility & ECMO.

The Bone Marrow Transplant Unit will be overseen by Dr. S.Kartthik, Consultant Hematologist & Hemato Oncologist.

Some of the unique facilities include:

* Hepa-filter Setup to control Infection

*1:1 Patient Medical Personnel Care.

* Negative Pressure Setup and Completely Sealed Facility to control Infection.

*Provision for Dialysis inside BMTU.
