21st Graduation Ceremony at PSG College of Nursing

PSG College of Nursing held its 21st Graduation Day on 17 July 2019 at PSG IMSR Auditorium. L.Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee, PSG&Sons’ Charities presided the ceremony.

Dr.Shyamala Kumar, Nursing Director, NMC Hospital, Dubai was the Chief Guest. Dr. Latha Venkatesan, Principal,Apollo College of Nursing, Chennai and Dr.Raja Sudhakar, Group Head, Wipro Ltd, Bengaluru were the Guests of Honors.

The UG graduates belonging to 2014 batch and PG Graduates belonging to the 2016 batch received their Degrees.

Dr. A.Jaya Sudha, Principal welcomed the gathering. She traced the origin of the college which began as a humble Nursing College 25 years ago has grown greatly and has become a premier institution that offers upto Ph.D in Nursing.

Addressing the graduates, she said “your parents have made great sacrifices to see you at this level. Whatever parents do, they do in your best interests.” Appealing to the parents she said ” Parents trust your children and Dont underestimate them”.

She wished the students the best of luck to unlock the doors to success.

L.Gopalakrishnan, in his Presidential Address said that Graduation is the highlight event of academics. Celebrating this day gives the opportunity to meet and greet the parents who are the roots of their children’s success. He said PSG College of Nursing has given the students the opportunity to learn at the best, from the best and interact with the best minds internationally.

He stated that the college provides the students to have the thirst for knowledge, the heart to serve and spirit to be entrepreneurs. He said “Remember that you are empowered in a field of high nobility that is revered by many. Great expectations are on you all.” He wished them to be in touch with their Alma Mater and gave them his best wishes.

Dr.Latha Venkatesan in her address appreciated the magnanimity of P.S.Govindaswamy Naidu and the Trustees of PSG & Sons’ Charities for giving so much to the field of educations. She applauded Dr.A.Jaya Sudha for bringing together every luminary and alumnus of the PSG Nursing for the Silver Jubilee Celebration of the college.

Addressing the students, she said ” This is a cut-throat competitive world” where only skills will earn them a place among the elite. She stated that Nursing is a challenging field where there is rapid growth of Technology.

She wanted the graduates to do more research and come out as reformers of Nursing. She suggested them to sharpen themselves occasionally even if it hurts a little.

Dr.Raja Sudhakar in his address recollected his moments as an alumnus of the college. He stated that Nursing jobs are increasing overseas and women are at the helm of the field as leaders.

He reflected his boss Azim Premji’s words that they should have dreams that are big and hard enough to be called impossible and laughed at. He counselled that failures are common and falling down is okay as long as they fall forward and not backwards. He wanted them to learn from their mistakes and from others to be a step ahead in their endeavors.

The chief guest in her address said that this day is one monumental day that gives an incredible feeling to the Graduates and it has become possible by the support of the faculty and the parents who have been with them all along.

She counselled them that comfort and growth never mix together and there is lot to accomplish and lots of lesson to be learnt from regrets, failures and mistakes which are important for a person as the world which they are about to enter will be a Revolutionary one.

She said “every experience,encounter, transaction and mistakes will teach you to be more of who you are”. She wanted them to stay true to themselves as integrity was of extreme value in this field and she suggested them to embrace the change and be the change they want to see.

She mentioned that true measure of success is to make use of every opportunity to heal others. She asked them to give their time, talent, love kindness, knowledge and everything they treasure to the society at large.

While concluding she said that “you should explore every facets of challenge as it gives rich experience. You must embrace inevitable and make a difference and have faith in how far you can go.”

After that the special awards and degree certificates were presented to the graduates by the dignitaries. A. Suriya Prakash of 2014 received the Best Outgoing Student Award.
