Maldives invites Modi to address in Parliament

Prime Minister Narendra Modi  will make his  first bilateral visit to Maldives on June 7-8 and he has been unanimously invited to address the Parliament of Maldives.

Abdulla Shahid, Foreign Minister of Maldives, shared the message via Twitter that Maldives Parliament has unanimously passed a resolution to invite Modi to address a sitting of the house during his upcoming visit to the Maldives.

Modi’s visit to Maldives is his first visit to the country after winning the 2019 election and it must be noted that addressing international parliament is not new to the Indian Prime Minister as he had already received the honor of being the first Indian to address the British Parliament in 2015 and received a standing ovation.

Although he is yet to be accepted by all the Indians, he remains an internationally acclaimed figure in the field of politics. Modi’s magic in Maldives could elevate his status even higher.  It was learned that apart from Maldives, Modi is expected to meet US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping during the G-20 Summit in mid June.
