The Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS), a leading non-profit network of Indian B-Schools, recently conducted a thought-provoking virtual Knowledge Sharing Session on the Metaverse – A Revolution in Business Strategy. The event, held on November 8th, 2023, attracted nearly 100 participants and was live-streamed on AIMS’s YouTube platform.
Pragyan Parimita Sarangi, Associate Professor at Srusti Academy of Management, served as the distinguished speaker, delving into the transformative potential of the Metaverse in reshaping human interaction, work, and entertainment in the digital age. Jyotisman Das Mohapatra, Assistant Professor at Srusti Academy, moderated the session.
Sarangi highlighted that the Metaverse is being recognized as revolutionary frontier in business strategy. She emphasized its role in facilitating innovative client interactions through the convergence of blockchain technology, augmented reality, and virtual reality. Within the Metaverse, Businesses can now establish virtual storefronts, host events, and create immersive brand experiences. The Metaverse also enables remote collaboration, expanding the talent pool and reducing the need for physical office spaces.
The session underscored the evolving landscape of monetization within the Metaverse, ranging from virtual commodities and services to virtual real estate. Sarangi urged businesses to strategically navigate this unexplored territory, ensuring a focus on user privacy, security, and inclusivity.
