SSVM School Won Coimbatore Sahodaya Kho-Kho Tourney

The 43rd Coimbatore Sahodaya Inter-School Kho-Kho Tournament (2022-23) for Girls, hosted by Githanjali Public School in the academic year 2022-23, was a sensational event that showcased the spirit of sportsmanship and competition. The two-day tournament, saw an impressive participation of 47 schools with a total of 1156 enthusiastic students from Coimbatore and Tirupur.

Under the guidance of the revered Chief Guest, Navamani, Chairperson of Coimbatore Sahodaya and Senior Principal of Angappa Senior Secondary School, Alagiriswamy, Chairman, and Kavita, Principal of Githanjali instituition the competition began with a sonorous band and a warm welcome to the other dignitaries.

The matches were divided into four age categories: under 12, 14, 16, and 19. Each category witnessed intense competition, with standout performances from various schools. SSVM (Mettupalayam) emerged victorious in the under-12 category, while Suguna International school secured the championship in the under-14 category. Valarai Gate Vidhyalayam (Thiruchengode) clinched the top spot in the under-16 category, and Amrita Vidhyalayam Sr. Sec. School (Ettimadai) triumphed in the under-19 category.

The event witnessed a total of 92 Kho-Kho matches, where 61 teams showcased their talents on the first day, and the remaining 31 teams advanced to the semifinals and finals on the second day. The tournament was meticulously organized, with the efforts of dedicated coaches, officials, and PET representatives from various schools.

Participants and attendees were well-catered with healthy meals provided by Mathampati Food Service, and excellent healthcare services were readily available on the campus.

The Valedictory Ceremony marked the grand finale with the Chief Guest Geetha Lakshman, General Secretary of Coimbatore Sahodaya Complex and Principal of National Model School. The overall trophy of the tournament was awarded to the deserving SSVM (Mettupalayam) school, which showcased exceptional performances across all age categories.
