TNAU 112th MASU Day celebration

Madras Agricultural Students Union celebrated its 112th Foundation Day on July 14th, 2023, commemorating the century-old evergreen organization. Established in 1911 and registered as a society in 1923, the Madras Agricultural Students Union (MASU) remains a registered body of TNAU (Tamil Nadu Agricultural University).

During the event, Professor Kannan, President of MASU, delivered a warm welcome address. The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of TNAU and Chief Patron of MASU, Geethalakshmi, delivered the Presidential address, highlighting the history and founding motto of MASU. She also praised the success of the “Madras Agricultural Journal,” a publication running for 110 years, and encouraged students to contribute and enhance its standards. The Chief Patron lauded the Executive Committee’s efforts in re-establishing the MASU awards after a decade-long break.

The event’s Chief Guest, B K Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, Chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, and President of N.G.M College & KCT, commended MASU for its continuous support to TNAU’s student community. He urged young minds to work for societal betterment and emphasized how a positive mindset can lead to extraordinary changes in people’s lives. Vanavarayar congratulated the award winners and students at the MASU award ceremony.

Sixteen eminent scientists from various agricultural disciplines received awards for their exceptional research contributions from the Chief Guest and Chief Patron (MASU). Additionally, student winners from TNAU’s Constituent colleges received prizes from the dignitaries. The celebration concluded with the MASU General Body Meeting, where Professor Murugan, Secretary of MASU, delivered the Vote of Thanks.
