Nandan Nilekani, the co-founder of Infosys, has donated INR 315 crore to his alma mater, IIT Bombay, to commemorate 50 years of his association with the institution. The donation aims to enhance infrastructure, stimulate research, and foster a deep tech startup ecosystem at the institute. This significant contribution is considered one of the largest donations by an alumnus in India. Nilekani had previously made grants totaling INR 85 crore to IIT Bombay, bringing his total contribution to INR 400 crore. The donation is expected to accelerate the institute’s growth and position it as a global leader.
