Association of Professional Social Workers in collaboration with the Department of Social Work, Hindusthan College of Arts & Science, Coimbatore observed World Social Work Day 2023 on Tuesday at the college. The event was coordinated by Punitha, Professor & Head, and all the faculty members of the Department of Social Work. The Chief Guest was Tr. Shanmugasundaram, Deputy Inspector General of Prisons, Coimbatore Range.
Ponnusamy, Secretary, Association of Professional Social Workers and Principal, HCAS remembered Muthusamy, Former DIG of Police, who was one of the important people in starting this Association.
The Chief Guest shared about the Government passed GO to employ Social Workers in the prisons as Social Workers that they have the capacity to identify problems in individuals, counsel and rehabilitate them.
Rangasamy, a Retired Professor from Madurai Institute of Social Sciences, Sankaranarayanan, Managing Trustee of Native Medical Care Trust, Kavidasan, President of Association of Professional Social Workers, Sudhakar, Head, HR, Roots Industries India Ltd. Were present at the event. Best Social Work student Award 2023 was given to various College students.
