Around 200 students participated in KMCH Rally

KMCH College of Pharmacy, Coimbatore conducted an awareness rally on International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Around 200 students of KMCH College of Pharmacy actively participated in it. Dr.Thavamani Palaniswamy, Managing Trustee, Kovai Medical Center Research & Educational Trust, (KMCRET) Coimbatore flagged off the rally at KMCH Institute of Health Sciences and Research.

The rally passed through SITRA, Nehru Nagar in Kalapatti Road, crossed sharply and culminated at KMCH College of Pharmacy. The students held slogans against drug abuse and illegal trafficking of drugs. Carrying placards on anti-drugs themes, students marched in the Kalapatti road and created awareness among the local public by issuing pamphlets. Following this event, a conference on drug abuse and illicit trafficking was organised in the college campus. Rajasekaran, Principal, delivered a welcome address. Dr. Nalla Palaniswamy, chairman, KMCH Hospitals, delivered a presidential address. The chief guest, Silambarasan, deputy commissioner Coimbatore South, delivered a chief guest address. He insisted about the problems behind drug abuse and illicit trafficking, various types of laws in connection with drug abuse among the students. Srinidhi Nithyanand, consultant psychiatrist KMCH Hospitals, delivered a keynote address. The conference was felicitated by Thavamani Palaniswamy, Managing Trustee and O.T.Bhuvaneswaran, CEO, KMCR&ET, Coimbatore. The program was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr.S. Shalini, HOD, Department Of Pharmacy Practice, KMCH College of pharmacy followed by the national anthem.
