CPN spreads awareness on Breast Milk donation

The Press Club of Coimbatore saw three women empowering mothers on the importance of giving it to their new borns as well as the importance of donating breast milk. The initiative was taken up by Coimbatore Parenting Networking when one of its members frantically needed breast milk for a baby and many mothers from the group came forward. Coimbatore Parenting Network termed the initiative as Uyirthuli and has been actively involved in collecting of breast milk every month which is donated in the state of the art milk bank at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.

Celebrating World Breast Feeding Week from August 1-7th, Swathi Jagadish- Breast Feeding counselor along with Priya Karthick- Trustee, Minu Narayanamurthy- Trustee have won praises and appreciations from all. The donors say it is the right awareness given by lactation counselors in CPN and support system that helped them realize how the same improves one’s supply of breast milk so their own child has more milk than before. The theme for this year’s Breast Feeding Week is ‘New Age Parenting- Pazhasum Pudhusum’, where focus will be on how parents can raise children intuitively based on age old practices in today’s environment.

The World Breast Feeding Week will see the ‘Giant Wheel’ exhibition being conducted where young mothers will sell products and promote their start-ups. The venue for the exhibition will be Prozone mall on the 4th and 5th of August.
