Omicron cases increase in India; 170 affected so far.

Judging by the growing cases of covid patients with Omicron impact, it is evident now that India must take heavy countermeasures to fend off this new variant.

The variant is spreading faster. Maharashtra has the highest omicron cases, totalling 54 on Monday evening. Whereas Delhi has 28, Telangana has 20,  Karnataka has 19, Rajasthan has 17, Kerala has 15 and Gujarat has 11. UP has 2 and Andhra, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal each have 1 case.

India’s total omicron cases stand at 170, and it seems there may be many new cases in the coming days, given that the end of the year sale, shopping and partying fever is now here along with a cold winter.

On Monday, Tamil Nadu Health Secretary asked District Collectors to launch campaigns and bring about a change of behaviour. He has said that if the developments in the omicron issue are not taken seriously, it can lead us to trouble.
