Vikramadhithyan to receive Vishnupuram Award in Covai!

Poet Vikramadhithyan will be the writer to receive Vishnupuram Award for 2021.

Vikramadhityan, whose real name is Nambirajan was born on the year of India’s Independence in Tirunelveli. He has worked as Journalist in various widely-read magazines like Sodhanai, Aswini, Tharaasu, Nakkeeran, and Idhayam Pesugiradhu.

He is credited as a pioneer for bringing traditional images and flow of language to modern Tamil poetry. His poems offer a fresh alternative with their dense imageries and forsake rhythm in a manner synonymous with modern poetry.He has been bestowed with Vilakku Award and Saral Award.

Since 2010 Vishnupuram Literary Circle has honoured outstanding Tamil writers from India and abroad and many awardees have gone on to win national recognition and awards.

The annual award, now in its 12th year, will be presented at a grand function on Sunday, 26th December, 2021 at Rajasthani Sangh, R.S.Puram, Coimbatore. The award includes Rs 2,00,000 (Two Lakhs) in cash, an artistically carved sculpture and a citation. As part of the celebrations, a documentary on the awardee will be screened and a collection of essays by his peers on his works will be released. A meet-the-author session will also be held on Sunday morning.

Member of Parliament and former Central Minister, Jairam Ramesh, noted Telugu poet Vadarevu Veerabhadrudu, director Vasanth S. Sai, writer Cho. Dharman, and writer Jeyamohan will felicitate the awardee.
