MNM’s Dr.Mahendran assures Growth & Development for Singanallur Constituency

Makkal Needhi Maiam’s Singanallur Constituency Candidate, Dr.R.Mahendran, who is also the party’s Vice President released the manifesto for the constituency recently in the presence of Founder and President of MNM, Kamal Haasan.

Dr.Mahendran signed a bond agreeing to the party’s Right to Recall rule (i.e) any successful candidate party, after elected to power should fulfil his/her election promises to the public. If failed to fulfill, that person will be recalled by the party.

One thing that is missing from the manifesto is the announcement of freebies. Dr.Mahendran said that no one in the public asked them why have they not announced any freebies. He said that he sees this as a change and welcome.

Dr.Mahrendran’s manifesto is titled ‘Singara Singai’, and features the long-pending needs of the people, as well as long and short term development plans for the constituency.

He said, “Unlike a usual manifesto promising everything, the manifesto for Singanallur constituency is time-bound and will be achieved along with the participation of the people.”

Makkal Narpani Maiams:

Every ward will have a Makkal Narpani Maiam and it will be a 24/7 centre for the people. Apart from Maiam members, representatives of each street will be part of the centre.

Legal support for women will be provided by the members. Three self help volunteers for every ward to empower and enhance the earning capacity of women.

Infrastructure:

Stalled infrastructure projects including Airport expansion will be expedited. Proposal for Greenfield airport will be pushed. Irugur Railway Station will be proposed to be developed as the next passenger and cargo hub for Coimbatore.

-Scheme road connecting Trichy road-Vellalore road via Singanallur lake bund.A public library with over 1 lakh books will be set-up in the constituency for free usage. Free wi-fi across the constituency will be set-up.

Health – Arogya Singai:

-A Government General Hospital in Singanallur will be proposed and initiated. Each ward will have Arogyam Clinic for a free consultation of health problems through Makkal Narpani Maiam and public-private participation.Exclusive monthly camps for women health.

Water:

Increasing ways to improve the groundwater level by afforestation, restoring lakes/ponds and rainwater harvesting.Tap water for every home will be implemented.

Agriculture & Agro Products:

The food processing industry will be actively promoted. A food park with modern food processing units will be created. Organic Farmer’s Market: People can get farm fresh organic vegetables and products at wholesale price.

Manufacturing food products like pickles, snacks, grounded spices will be initiated with the brand name of Singai and will be supplied and exported across the globe, thereby increasing household income, employment and world level recognition of Singai.

Irrigation to Nanjundapuram farmlands will be initiated. Ration shop items will be delivered to your doorstep. Additional Uzhavar Sandhai will be set-up. Two days of Singai Agriculture fair will be held during the Pongal. Educating farmers on new farming, soil, seeds & harvest technology to get the best farm yield.

Singara Singai:

Kuppai Illa Singai – Waste collection and disposal will be performed regularly. Urban Reforestation across the constituency will be actively promoted using reserve sites and government parks. Revive Singai lake from the clutches of industrial sewage by implementing sewage treatment plants. Wine shops near residential areas, schools, colleges, hospitals and temples will be closed.

Steps to stop illegal fishing from Singai lake will be taken. The boathouse will be revived and regular biodiversity tours. Sewage treatment plants will be established at the newly built location in Nanjundapuram to treat the industrial wastes mixing into water bodies.

Talent Capital:

Existing Govt schools will be upgraded and five model schools will be completed through a public-private partnership. Improving sports Infrastructure with advanced training so that sportspersons from Singai can participate in National/ International level sports. An Olympic size swimming pool with quality trainers will be opened free for the public.

Festivals:

Singai Thiruvizha – Every year, a grand Singai Thiruvizha will be conducted during the Pongal holidays to attract people across the country and abroad where brand Singai will be showcased through Food, Art, Handicraft, Shopping, Kids-Play, Exhibition, Music, Dance, Painting stalls. All religious festivals in the constituency will be made into a constituency wide event.

Civic issues:

Improvement of Drainage System by using drain guard, periodic drain cleaning as well as by prohibiting and penalizing people throwing open garbage in drains.

A local Civic body committee would be formed to supervise each ward’s drainage system improvement and take corrective actions.

Creating and maintenance of more public toilets in each ward. Installing big garbage bins with proper colour code marks for bio-degradable, solid and liquid waste in each street of each ward. Controlling traffic congestion by traffic awareness programs and installing speed breakers.

Improvement of children park with proper plantation and open space. Creating Children’s Playground in all the major localities within 3-4 km. Issuing permanent Patta to resolve the Patta problem for slum dwellers and residents in the constituency.

Industrial Growth & Employment – Selumaiyana Singai:

Industrial Tech Park for small and micro industries. Promotion of MSMEs: Efforts will be made to increase the share of MSMEs in the GDP of Coimbatore by ensuring credit and financial assistance, infrastructure development, marketing assistance and technology & quality up-gradation.

-Skill Development Centers will be developed to facilitate quality skilled manpower to the industry in the constituency. GST on engineering job works, wet grinders, pump parts, dyeing work, artificial yarn and coir products will be lobbied and brought down to 5%. Demand for exempting hand-loom from GST will be taken up.

All Trade Sector Association meetings will be held within June 2021 to prioritize, request timelines for action.
