Ntl. Conf. on Communication & System Design at PSG iTech

The Department of ECE, PSG iTech in association with IETE, IE(I) and ISTE organized the Second National Conference on Communication and System Design 2021(NC2SD 2021) recently.

Santhanamari, Asso.Prof-ECE & Organizing Secretary briefed about the Conference. She cited that around 95 papers from various Institutions were received for review, out of which 45 papers are to be presented in the conference. G. Chandramohan, Principal, PSG iTech delivered the Inaugural Address and encouraged the faculty members to organize an International Conference during the next academic year on to establish network and collaboration with researchers from foreign countries also.

P V Mohanram, Secretary, delivered the Presidential Address and appreciated the efforts taken by the faculty members for organizing the conference. He highlighted that young researchers must get inspired by the nature and synchronize with technology. Further, he insisted the Organizing Committee to conduct at least one pre-conference workshops in a related topic and project presentation by college students.

Subbaraj, Dean (Research), Electrical Sciences highlighted the recent advancements in technologies like energy-efficient communication, wireless power transfer and wearable to implantable sensors for biomedical applications.

Later in the keynote address by  S. Manikandan, Scientist E, LRDE, DRDO, Bengaluru spoke on the title, ‘Autonomous Driver Assistance System’. He spoke about the sensor fusion for autonomous driver assistance system. He also explained the ultrasonic sensors, RADAR, LIDAR, vision systems and their applications as range-sensors in different environments.

Another keynote speaker, R Ramanathan, faculty Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham spoke on ‘Cognitive networks for 5G Communication’. He walked through the evolution from 1G to 5G, explained the key features and performance metrics of 5G and scope of Cognitive radio networks with massive MIMO in 5G communication network. He quoted that advent of 5G makes gaming and live streaming super-fast.

Students and faculty from various institutions presented 45 papers in the sessions. Six sessions were arranged, which were Chaired by Industry expert from NI-Drive-Japan (Industry), and Professors from Anna University – Regional Centre – Coimbatore, Velammal College of Engineering and Technology (Madurai) and PSG iTech.
