Rotaract Club of Coimbatore Unique and Blood For Life – a newly launched NGO, jointly provided blankets to the homeless settled in various parts of the district.
The volunteers from the organizations handed over these blankets on Sunday to the less fortunate dwellers. Noting the spine-chilling winds blowing from all four corners, and those who sleep on the road-sides cover their bodies using waste cloths, bins and even cardboard boxes; the decision was taken.
It must be mentioned that both these organizations are focused on organizing several social welfare activities, and in the recent times have undertaken such initiatives.
The Rotaract Club is actively guided by Rotary Club of Coimbatore for the past 13 years. In a press release, it was mentioned that the club had organized projects benefitting Women, students in the rural areas and much more. Currently the club is led by Monica and Akshaya – the President & Secretary respectively. Blood For Life is a voluntary lifesaving organization led by Nikhil from Coimbatore. It is a social initiative catering to blood requests for past 2 months.
