Sree Annapoorna Hotels, Coimbatore’s Iconic Veg Restuarant which is celebrating its Golden Jubilee, launched a commemorative Coffee Table Book on Sunday at The Residency Towers.
Dr.B.K.Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, Chairman, Kumaraguru Institutions was the Guest of Honor. A.V.Varadharajan, Chairman, AVV Group unveiled the First Copy in the presence of Ramaswamy, Chairman; Sundararajan, Vice Chairman, D.Srinivasan, Managing Director, Vivek Srinivasan and Jegan, Executive Directors of Sree Annapoorna Group. A Documentary of the Sree Annapoorna Group was aired during the event.

Speaking at the event, Dr.B.K.Krishnaraj Vanavarayar said that for 50 years, Sree Annapoorna Hotels are on the path of growth continuously and it is a story to be applauded. He said that the practice of going to hotels was not in fashion in Coimbatore 50 years ago and the founder of Sree Annapoorna Hotels, Damodaraswamy Naidu took a huge risk but that was a calculated risk.
Dr.Krishnaraj recounted the words of Damodaraswamy Naidu about how a hotel could be successful – “Food has to be affordable, Taste should be good and the Service must be excellent”. True to what they said, for 50 years they continue to remain No.1 in hotels in Coimbatore. But the starting period had its own challenges.
Damodaraswamy was a mill employee who ventured into food Industry with a small bakery, then a canteen in Central Theater and then a small hotel in D.B.Road. Dr.Krishnaraj Vanavarayar said that Damodaraswamy Naidu had No great exposure, resource, backup or experience but he didnt say those as an excuse and chose to be an Entrepreneur, and succeeded.
Vanavarayar credited that family was integral in his (Damodaraswamy Naidu’s) success. Beyond Professional Management, the family management has been paramount in the success path. With the unity of brothers the first generation made Sree Annapoorna a hotel with values. The second generation D.Sreenivasan and Soundararajan focused on the hotel’s consolidation.Vanavarayar wished that the 3rd Generation Vivek and Jegan expand Sree Annapoorna to international boundaries. He wished that everyone will be here Celebrating the 75th Year of the hotels.
During the event, 6 months worth of food support was given from Sree Annapoorna Group to Kudil – a Home for poor children.
