Nurses’ rally highlight their commitment to save lives

The World Health Organisation designated 2020 as the year of the Nurse and Midwife in honor of Florence Nightingale, the Pioneer of Nursing.

As a part of the celebration of her bicentennial birth anniversary, 25 nursing Institutions at Coimbatore comprising of 5000 student nurses joined at hands to have a peace March today.

In the peace march, slogans on nursing profession were highlighted and every delegate carried a white heart which is the symbol of Nursing.

The white Hart was officially launched as a universal symbol of Nursing in 1999. This symbol is meant to characterize the care, knowledge and human values that influence the work and spirit of Nursing.

The rally started at government women’s polytechnic college, Coimbatore and was flagged off by Sumit Sharan, commissioner of police, Coimbatore city.

 

The rally ended at v o c ground with the celebration. The chief guest of the day was Dr. Ani Grace Kalaimathi, Registrar, Tamilnadu nurses and midwives Council Chennai, and the guest of honour was Evelyn P. Kannan, Secretary General New Delhi.
