Library Orientation programme has been conducted by the Department of Library and Information Centre of Kongunadu Arts and Science College, from 24/07/2017 to 16/08/2017. The program was inaugurated by Dr.V.Balasubramaniam, Principal i/c and Dr. R. SenthilKumar, Librarian (SG) was the organizer.
In this programme students were provided with the firsthand knowledge of the newspaper, E-books, E-journals, E-database availability and access methods, comfortability and pleasure of reading the print newspapers, print books and other print resources. The students were introduced to the importance of developing communication skills and updation of new information with case study and examples for further survival. Dr. C.A.Vasuki, Secretary and Director, Kongunadu Arts and Science College gave a talk, about the importance of reading and how to cultivate the reading habit.
Mini Theatre facility, SMS, E-Mail reminder facilities, Flash News, circulars, Information Services through Scrolling by using Moving Display in Library and Information centre, Newly established Health Information System, and its importance were explained in this programme. Importance of First come First serve (FCFS) method of service in the circulation counter, Entire Library and information centre facility, access under Open Access (self service) mode were also highlighted. The college bar-coded identity card prepared in the library and distributed to the fresher’s during the programme.
