PSG iTech inaugurates PASCO Centre for Experiential Learning

PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research inaugurated ‘PASCO Centre for Experiential Learning’ (PASCO CEL). The inauguration was made by G. R. Karthikeyan, Chairman, PSG & Sons’ Charities, in the esteemed presence of L. Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee, PSG and Sons’ Charities on 14th January, 2020.

This state-of-art laboratory is setup in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, with the focus to promote “Learning by Doing” among the students. The laboratory was set up at a cost of 46 Lakhs. The students will learn basic laws such as Newton’s law, Hooke’s law, Faraday’s laws etc., working principles of wireless sensors, Bridge Set, and will also be able to measure the forces exerted by the biceps & triceps in a Human Arm Model. The experiments involve the use of various sensors which measure parameters such as magnetic field density, force, displacement, acceleration, pressure, temperature and typical measuring devices like CO2 sensor, spirometer, heart rate sensor etc.

Twenty faculty members across all the five Engineering Departments in PSG iTech were trained to demonstrate various experiments using the above to the students. The faculty members demonstrated and explained eight experiments to the guests with posters and examples. The first year (second semester) students of all the Engineering streams will have an opportunity to explore and understand the above basic science concepts through experiential learning.
